Half The Sky (HTS) works in China's state-run orphanages. HTS provides training to infant care givers and preschool teachers in China to benefit and nurture the children living in these institutions. HTS builds preschools in China's orphanages, provides education and training to older girls and gives them a chance for a future and a present filled with care and love.

The Red Thread sock is evocative of a vintage seamed stocking, but with a modern interpretation. A delicate red thread along the leg brings to mind the Chinese red thread fable -- Every baby is born with an invisible red thread connecting her to all of the people who will be important in her life. As these connections are made, the thread becomes visible, leading the child to the life she was meant to live.
